TURIN Jonathan Fredrickson and Michael Getman will be the first two guest choreographers in the Nuova X professional contemporary dance program starting next September in Turin. Being designed by Nuova Officina della Danza with the direction by Tom Weinberger (here his interview), Nuova X aims at providing an opportunity for a pre-selected group of dancers to undertake two in-depth creations with two different choreographers.

Jonathan Fredrickson will be the first guest choreographer from September 5th through October 7th, a freelance artist who has danced with companies such as Limón Dance Company, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and most recently with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Jonathan, in his experience as a choreographer has collaborated with the likes of Bobbi Jene Smith and Samantha Jay while continuing to evolve and present his work internationally.
Michael Getman will serve as the second choreographer for the first edition during the period of October 17th through November 14th. In addition to developing his skills and art of dance primarily with Batsheva (Israel) and Ballet Freiburg Pretty Ugly (Germany), Michael has presented his work as a choreographer at various festivals and venues, including Israel Museum (Jerusalem), Suzanne Dellal Center (Tel Aviv), Springboard dance (Montreal), Holland Dance (Den Haag), Nowy Teater (Warsaw), Théâtre National de Chaillot (Paris), Kenzo fashion house (Paris), Schauspielhaus (Hamburg), Open Look (St. Petersburg), WhiteBox Artspace (New York), and others.
Tom Weinberger says: “Michael and Jonathan are two brilliant artists in their own right. Each embodying an authentic research and approach through their choreographic practice, resulting in completely different experiences for the dancers of Nuova X. Whilst different in their creative process, curiosities, and aesthetics, they are united in their skill and commitment. I am extremely excited for the dancers of Nuova X to meet with these two seasoned artists!“
