ROTTERDAM  Danshuis Conversations, a new podcast in which leading international figures from the world of dance explore the heritage, current state, and future of dance, launched by Danshuis, production and development centre of dance in Rotterdam. The first five conversations will be released todya, October 1, 2026, via the Danshuis website (danshuis.nl), YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. From then on, a new episode will be released on the first day of every month.

Among the guests are Jiří Kylián, Lucia Marthas, Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar, Ine Rietstap, Martinette Janmaat, Lloyd Marengo and Floor Eimers. In conversation with host Samuel Wuersten, Artistic Director of Holland Dance Festival, they reflect on their personal journeys through dance.

Ideas, influences and philosophies that shape dance are rarely documented. Performances disappear, and creative processes often remain invisible. Danshuis Conversations creates a living record of the stories and people behind the art form. Each conversation explores a personal journey: a career, sources of inspiration, the people encountered, and the moments that shaped a life in dance. Together, the conversations offer insight into the craftsmanship, creativity and development of dance across generations.

The new Danshuis is planned to open in 2030 and will be the largest centre for the production and development of dance of all styles under one roof in Europe, open to all ages and levels of experience, and providing the best facilities for the creation of professional and amateur dance programmes. Features will include fourteen state-of-the-art dance studios, an open podium, gym, exhibition space, café and a rooftop Salle des Fêtes for large scale public programmes, with sweeping views across the city’s historic harbour. The architect is Ma Yansong (MAD Architects).
